jet-lagged

greetings all,

I've finally made it too the land down-under. The weather is great, the scenery is beautiful and the people are nice. Everyone wants to know what Wisconsin is like. They seem to know sport teams and tv personalities. They don't know how cold it gets in Wisconsin as they have no concept what 10 inches of snow feels like. Their cold weather requires them to put on a fleece and pants. I've come to the right town because everyone just loves it here and doesn't want to leave. One guy said he's been traveling since he was 15 and hasn't found a place better than this. Well I suppose it is time to get a tan and play with the chicken looking things.

Hi Gina! Mark told me about your "blog" and it will be fun to read about your experiences! I hope you have a wonderful adventure in Australia. I actually saw a special on the travel channel the night before you left with the "top 10 destinations in Australia" it looked so exciting! They showcased Bondi Beach, the Urulu (?)the bridge climb over the opera house in Sydney, and the Great Barrier Reef - amongst other spots. Of course, the best place looked like the beach! Enjoy ! Take care ! The Patterson family & Annie & Doug

    Gina,
The reaction you are getting from the Aussies is what we have had in Europe for the past two years. The U.S. has never been so unpopular as since the beginning of the Bush administration. It started with the Kyoto Accord, Axis of Evil, etc and just built up to the Iraq war. People in five countries questioned us when they heard us speak English. Basically they said, we love Americans but hate Bush. It was every where we went...so just be your sweet self and you won't have problems. We have to show the world we aren't all ideologues. Moderates do exist.
